What A Real, Living, Durable Economy Looks Like by Bill McKibben
Over a decade ago, Bill McKibben wrote The End of Nature, a classic best seller on our environmental crisis. It is still considered a ground breaking work in environmental studies. His latest book is Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future.
On April 14, 2007 almost 1400 communities (including Vancouver and Camas) answered his call to join local rallies to tell Congress to Step It Up (www.stepitup07.org) and reduce carbon emissions 80 % by 2050.
Due to over crowding, our Executive Director was one of a hundred McKibben readers turned away from his recent appearance at Powell’s Books. As a result, Powell’s gave Friends of Clark County permission to post the author’s original essay, written exclusively for Powell’s, on our web site.
